the sound of a day

October 26, 2007

Most of you probably saw the YouTube video on Kerri’s blog the other day. Well it got me thinking about not only all the things I say in a day as a mom, but also the things I hear again and again. Here is a drastically condensed version of a typical day with my boys.

Giggle, giggle…SHHH…its not morning yet!

THUMP! CRASH! BANG!

Good morning, Mom. Can I pick breakfast?

I don’t like scrambled eggs, can I have Pop Tarts?

Can I watch (TV) and eat? AWWW, why not?

Mom, can I tell you something cool?

Giggle, giggle…OOOPS… SORRY, I spilled my milk! Can I have more milk, please?

Mom, can I tell you something cool?

MOM, I don’t have any clean pants!

Can we play before school?

Transformers, robots in disguise-AUTOBOTS, DECEPTACONS, GO! (repeat at least 100 times)

THUMP! CRASH! BANG!

Awww, school already?

How many more pages? (repeat 10-20 times)

Mom, can I tell you something cool?

What’s for lunch? I don’t want peanut butter again, can I have Pop Tarts?

Mom, can I tell you something cool?

(From the bathroom upstairs) I’M DONE NOW!!!

(dog barking) Mom, Amber won’t leave me alone!

Mom, can I tell you something cool?

(From the bathroom upstairs) MOM, when are you going to wipe my bottom?

Awww, it’s naptime already??

Good morning (afternoon), Mom. Can we play?

Transformers, robots in disguise- AUTOBOTS, DECEPTACONS, GO!

MOM! Harrison won’t share!

THUMP! CRASH! BANG!

MOM! Grant won’t help me clean!

DADDY!!! DADDY!!!! Daddy, can I tell you something cool?

What’s for dinner? Does it have onions in it?

I’m too full. Can I pick dessert?

Dad, will you play fighting robots?

THUMP! CRASH! BANG!

Awww, bedtime???

Dear Jesus…etc…Amen

Goodnight, sweet dreams, I’ll see you in the morning

Giggle, giggle

Giggle, giggle

SHHH

Giggle, giggle

SHHH, Mom’s coming!

Are you sure you weren’t in our house? Sounds pretty much the same here, only the names were changed to protect the not-so-innocent!

In the interest of time, I left out a few extra trips to the bathroom and a few dozen “MOM can you transform this into a truck?” I also left out every “this is the worst day ever” (for the sake of keeping it positive). 🙂
